Dan Petrillo

In 2023, Dan Petrillo joined the NA upper school coaching staff as the boys' varsity basketball head coach. Dan is a 2006 graduate of Newark Academy, who during his tenure, was a four-year starting varsity athlete in both basketball and baseball. Dan earned multiple accolades during his athletic career including: All-Conference, All-County and All-State team honors, Conference Player of the Year and was the captain of both the boys’ basketball and baseball teams as a senior. Upon graduating from Newark Academy, Dan furthered his education at the University of Rhode Island, where he earned a BA in History and later, a Masters degree in Special Education from Saint Elizabeth College. In 2011, Dan began his teaching and coaching career at Philip’s Academy. He went on to teach and coach at the middle school level at Gill St. Bernard’s. By 2018, Dan returned to Newark Academy to teach middle school humanities. He has since been involved with Minutemen athletics, having coached multiple sports at both the middle and high school levels. In 2021, he was inducted into Newark Academy’s Hall of Fame, honoring his accomplishments and records set as a student-athlete. When he’s not teaching or coaching, he enjoys spending his time with his wife Jaclyn, and son, Mariano.
