Tim McCall
Tim McCall joined the Newark Academy faculty as a Humanities Teacher, and assistant cross-country coach in the fall of 2017. Prior to Newark Academy, Mr. McCall taught history at the Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, Massachusetts, where he was also a houseparent and coached cross-country, varsity softball, and J.V. soccer. Since arriving at NA, he has also coached winter and spring track, along with teaching Ancient World, IB Modern World, and working as one of the faculty advisors to the Peer Leader Program. Mr. McCall competed in cross-country and track as a high-school student, and at the collegiate level. He ran the 8K, 5000 meter, and 10,000 meter while attending Bates College from which he graduated in 2008 with Bachelor’s Degree in History and German. He subsequently spent a year teaching German at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, and a year teaching English in Germany as a Fulbright Scholar, before returning to graduate school at the University of Connecticut (M.A. Early American Studies). Running is still a huge part of his life, and he continues training in the hopes of one day beating his 2009 marathon personal record of 2 hours and 48 minutes. When he isn’t running or reading, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Charlotte, their dog, and their extended families.
