Akil Boucaud
Akil Boucaud joined Newark Academy as the varsity football head coach in 2023. He has been coaching football and track and field for more than 15 years both at the youth and high school levels. Coach Boucaud has always been committed to promoting a team environment of respect, attentiveness, participation and discipline while helping players learn valuable lessons and skills. Coach Boucaud has coached more than 30 student-athletes who went on to participate in collegiate athletics. Two of which went on to play in the NFL. His teams have made multiple playoff appearances over the years.
Coach Boucaud was born and raised in Orange, New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University where he played football. Coach Boucaud also holds a Master’s in Public Administration, a Master's of Education in Educational Leadership and a Doctorate in Education with a concentration in Teacher Leadership.
Coach Boucaud loves coaching and spending quality time with his wife Makeda and two daughters Makila and Akila.
