The Newark Academy boys’ tennis team has been named Team of the Year after a perfect, 24-0 season. The Minutemen bested East Brunswick in the final round of the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions to clinch the last-ever title. This season was a highly decorated one for the Minutemen, as they won the Newark Academy Invitational, the Essex County Tournament, the Non-Public B Sectional title, the Non-Public B state title and the T of C title. Over the course of the T of C, Newark Academy has accumulated fifteen titles.

Although there will no longer be a Tournament of Champions title for the Minutemen to reach for, they will return a strong lineup next year in hopes of defending their state championship crown. The future is bright for Newark Academy as they will be returning key difference-makers Josh Mandelbaum, Andrew Kotzen, and Ethan Polen. The Minutemen look forward to seeing underclassmen step up and fill the roles of graduating key first singles player Nick Kotzen and first doubles players Andy Nagpal and Saif Prabhu.
