The 2024 fall Minuteman Athletics season was one to remember — full of multiple milestones and impressive victories. Some highlights include girls’ tennis finishing the season with a 17-1 record as well as both the Super Essex Conference American Division and the Essex County Championship titles. They also made a Non-Public North Semifinal appearance and finished the season ranked No. 3 in the state.
Boys’ cross country added to the achievements by placing second at the Newark Academy Bill Blaskopf Invitational and the Prep Championship, led by Connor Polen ’26 who took first in both races.
Girls’ soccer had a winning season, ending its campaign with a 12-8-2 record and a state quarterfinal appearance. Senior captain Cami Gallagher ’25 surpassed the 100-career points mark this season and earned multiple spots in the record books including first for career assists (34), first for single-season assists (13), first for single-season points (55), second for single-season goals (22), second for career points (128) and third for career goals (47). Boys’ soccer rounded out its season with a solid run in the Prep Tournament, making it to the semifinal round.
Other highlights include the volleyball team having an impressive first-round Essex County Tournament win under first-year Head Coach Amar Sonnylal. Field hockey bounced back at the end of its season by going 4-2 over its last six games. On the football field, the Minutemen scored a season-high 20 points against the King School at home. Finally, girls’ cross country placed fifth at the Prep Championship and saw senior Sophia Garguilo ’25 take first at a Super Essex Conference meet. She beat her personal record three consecutive times this season.
