After an outstanding 2023 campaign that saw the boys' squad clinch the Prep Championship with a flawless 8-0 record and the girls securing an impressive 6-2 record, expectations are high for the upcoming season.
This season, the team will lean on the 2024 captains, Luka Opacic Rodrigues ‘24, LJ Hines ‘24, Ishaan Solanki ‘24, Jaeden Henry ‘24, Zinnia Magill ‘24, and Allie Singh ‘24. Despite the departure of standouts like Pierce Malloy ‘23, Kayin Davis ‘23, Cameron Wright ‘23, Bryce Rhodeman ‘23, Ethan Garcia ‘23, Yavan Vyas ‘23, Jelani Dean ‘23, Kiki Afolabi ‘23, and Marie Kung ‘23, the Minutemen return an impressive roster. With All-Super Essex Conference (SEC) Independence division selections Connor Polen ‘26, Luka Opacic Rodrigues ‘24, Jaeden Henry ‘24, LJ Hines ‘24, Ishaan Solanki ‘24, Tom Pesquin ‘24, Allie Singh ‘24, Kieri Keys ‘24, Tiana Evans ‘24, Eva Kaykov '24 and Zinnia Magill ‘24, Newark Academy has the talent and depth to excel.
Newark Academy prepares to host its season opener on Tuesday, April 2 at 4:00 p.m. The boys' team will face off against Glen Ridge and Eagle Academy, while the girls' team will take on Glen Ridge, Saint Vincent, and Eagle Academy.
