Sarah Guelich

Sarah Guelich began her career at Newark Academy in the fall of 2006 and is now the Director of Human Resources/Assistant Director of Business and Finance.  She began coaching with Newark Academy as the assistant middle school softball coach but was later recruited to be an assistant cross country coach by then-head coach Jon Olesky in the fall of 2013. An avid distance runner, Coach Guelich has completed three marathons, over a dozen half marathons, and in a myriad of 5k, 10k, 25k, and trail races since she began running in 2009. 

 

After Coach Olesky’s retirement from cross country coaching at the conclusion of the Fall 2017 season, Coach Guelich was named head coach of Newark Academy’s boys' and girls' cross country teams. Since being named head coach the boys' cross country team has won three Non-Public B Group State Championships, four Prep B State Championships, and the girls' cross country team won a share of first in the Super Essex Conference American Division in their 2019 Season.

 

Coach Guelich received a BA in Law and Justice from Rowan University in 2004 and an MA ED from Kean University in December 2011.  When she isn’t running, working, or coaching, Coach Guelich enjoys spending time with her husband and kids.
