Junior Matthew ‘Pierce’ Malloy won his first championship race of the season at the Prep B Finals, leading Newark Academy to a strong 37 point finish, with second-placed MKA finishing with 72 points.
Malloy crossed the line victorious with a time of 17:24 and had the pleasure of watching three of the next eight finishing positions all wearing the Newark Academy uniform as well. Andy Nagpal 17:32 (3rd), Luka Opacic Rodrigues 17:45 (5th), Maximillian Gorbaty 17:51(9th), and Luke Waskow 18:38 (19th) all contributed to the scoring, bringing the team total to 37 points and a 17:50 average.
This was a strong race for Newark Academy and has been a strong season so far. The next race on the billing is the NJSIAA Group Championships hosted at Holmdel Park in Holmdel, NJ on Saturday, November 13
