It was a beautiful spring afternoon for the Newark Academy girls' lacrosse team to host Cedar Grove for their senior night game on Wednesday evening. The team honored eight seniors including first year players Ava Cole and Fiona Tillyer, returning players Molly Culligan, Penelope Jennings, Asha Toolsidas and Samantha Witt, and captains Kate Fishbone and Kaya Rajparia.

The Panthers of Cedar Grove got off to a quick start, netting the first two goals of the game. The Minutemen were able to gather themselves and put one in quickly after. This goal was senior Kate Fishbone's 100th career goal. This is a monumental feat in the game of girls' lacrosse, especially for this senior that was limited to just three high school lacrosse seasons (COVID-19 season cancelled in 2020). Although the Minutemen were able to keep it within three goals the entire game, they were not able to get over the hump to surpass the Panthers.

On the Newark Academy offensive end, senior Kaya Rajparia led all scorers with four goals. Fishbone added two goals and three assists, while senior Molly Culligan and freshman Cami Gallagher added a goal a piece. Sophomore Abby Herbert notched an assist while senior Asha Toolsidas came up with seven clutch saves in goal.

The season is winding down for the Minutemen as they head to Irvington this Friday looking to earn a victory while they wait to be seeded for the state tournament on Monday.
