The Newark Academy girls' track team competed in the Super Essex Conference championship meet this past Friday and Saturday. It was a tight battle for the Independence divisional title between the first and second place teams. The Minutemen finished second with a 123 behind Cedar Grove (131). The remaining competitors were much farther behind with the third-place finish being a score of 55 for Glen Ridge. The remaining participants included Immaculate Conception (50), Weequahic (43), St. Vincent (35), University (15).

The Minutemen had two athletes place first in their events. This included Tess Kesler in pole vault and Kiki Afolabi in shot put.

Newark Academy is looking forward to the Essex County Tournament individual championships on Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20 at Montclair High School. Looking forward to next week, the Minutemen will be hosting the Prep Championship on Monday, May 23 at 3:00 p.m.
