The Newark Academy boys' golf team traveled to the Hawk Pointe Golf Club in Washington yesterday for the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions. Despite the high winds, the Minutemen were still able to have an excellent afternoon on the course and take home both the Non-Public B state championship and the Tournament of Champions title. Princeton commit, senior Nate Drogin, led Newark Academy by shooting a 72 which won him the first place spot in the Non-Public B individual state championship and tied him for second place overall in the individual Tournament of Champions with Cranford’s Derek Gutierrez.

In the win, Sophomore Kevin Ha shot a 76, sophomore TJ Betlow shot a 77 and freshman Arjun Caprihan finished with a 79. In the individual scoring of the state championship, Drogin, Ha and Betlow took first, second and third place consecutively. The Minutemen finished with an overall score of 304 and were trailed by Morristown-Beard (366), Bishop Eustace (366) and Ranney (371). This is Newark Academy's third straight state championship win, and their first-ever Tournament of Champions title.
