NAGS hosted MKA for their home opener of the 2022 season on Saturday afternoon. MKA dominated possession early on but NA did a good job of defending and neutralizing MKA's star players. NA had the best chance of the half but just missed the goal. The score remained 0-0 at halftime. NA started the second half with more energy and it showed, as they earned a free kick near midfield. Gracie Kelly played a long ball into the box, which the keeper bobbled. Cami Gallagher was there to pounce on the loose ball and knock it into an empty net to make it 1-0. While NA didn't have many other opportunities the remainder of the game, they were able to shut down MKA and come away with the 1-0 win.
Credit the defense, led by Ines Lopez-Silvero, Gracie, Izzy McNeilly-Anta, Larisa Basile, Olivia Palker and Mia Heinold, for helping Zoe Hermans earn her second shutout of the season. Zoe recorded 11 saves in the win.
NA improves to 2-0-0 and will travel to play Montclair on Tuesday, September 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 4pm.
