The Newark Academy girls’ basketball team is coming off a strong finish last season. Ending the year with a 23-6 record, the Minutemen boasted runs in the State Sectional final, the Prep Championship and the Essex County Tournament quarterfinals.

Head coach Liz Bona is returning for her 17th season, and will be assisted by second-year assistant Dan Petrillo and eighth-year Mike Altomare. Senior Zoe Hermans will be taking the lead as the sole captain of the squad this season.

After graduating First Team All-SEC and First Team Prep B selection Kate Fishbone ’22 and Second Team All-SEC selection Sofia Miller ’22, the Minutemen will need to rely on their key returners for strength and leadership on both ends of the court.
