Boys' Swimming: Back to Back Prep B Champions

The Newark Academy boys’ swim team captured their second consecutive Prep B title at The Lawrenceville School yesterday, placing first with a score of 327.

Numerous Minutemen individual swimmers and relay teams took top places to help propel the team to its first-place finish. Will Crall ’23 won the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:57.38 and Owen Markowitz ’24 topped the 500-yard freestyle clocking in at 4:43.20.

Owen finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.95 and the 200-yard freestyle relay team made up of Jasper Schnieders-Smith '24, Brett Matlosz ’25, Will and Owen came in second with a 1:30.02 finish. To add to the team’s successes, Owen was also named the Prep B Swimmer of the Meet for the second year in a row.

Pennington took the second place slot with a score of 195 and the bronze went to Morristown Beard with a score of 113.5. Other competitors included Rutgers Prep, Wardlaw Hartridge, Montclair Kimberly Academy and Gill St. Bernard's.

The Minutemen look to continue their success at the state tournament semifinals on February 20 at the Neptune Aquatic Center in Neptune City.
