The Minutemen baseball team is looking forward to kicking off the spring 2023 season. This year, the team will be led by second-year Head Coach Nick Manfreda. Coach Manfreda originally joined the program in 2018 as the Junior Varsity coach. The team finished with a 5-16 record last season and hopes to build upon that this year. This season, the program will also feature a JV team for the first time in many years, giving players more chances to develop their skills and compete.

Key returners for the Minutemen include All-Super Essex Conference (SEC) Colonial Second Team selection Jaren Levine ’25, All-SEC selection and captain Silas Epstein ’23, All-SEC selection and captain Alejandro Lorenzo ’23, All-SEC Colonial Honorable Mention Benjamin Schwartz ’24 and captain Jonathan Eichler ’23.

This season, Newark Academy will be competing in the SEC Colonial division against Cedar Grove, East Side, Shabazz, Belleville, East Orange, Payne Tech and University. The team will kick off its season with a home matchup on Monday, April 3 against University at 4 pm.
