The Newark Academy boys' golf team won their third-straight Essex County Tournament (ECT) title on Wednesday, May 3. This was the team's 11th ECT win in program history. Last season, the team won the conference, county, sectional, state and Tournament of Champions (ToC) titles, making it the winningest season in program history. The Minutemen look to repeat this success this year with the exception of the ToC since it has been eliminated from state competition.
The Minutemen finished with a team score of 284, just 4 points over par. Arjun Caprihan '25 led the Minutemen with a 66, placing first. Aryik Yadav '25 placed second with a score of 70. TJ Betlow '24, shot a 73 and placed fifth. Shreyas Hariharan '24 tied for eighth with a score of 75. Aaron Li '24 shot a 78, putting him at a tie for 14th.
Newark Academy returns to regular season play today, May 4, when they host MKA at 3:30 pm at their home course, Essex Fells Country Club.
