With a new era dawning upon Newark Academy varsity football, the Minutemen are excited to embark on a journey of resurgence under the guidance of their newly appointed Head Coach, Akil Boucaud. Armed with a wealth of coaching experience spanning over 15 years, Akil brings a passion for the game and a proven track record of developing successful student-athletes.
Looking back at the previous season, the Minutemen faced a challenging campaign, finishing with a 0-6 record. However, with a new coaching staff and newcomers to the program, the team is eager to turn the page.
The Minutemen graduated Jelani Dean ‘23 (All-Conference MIFL standout and former captain), along with Zach Pavlounis ‘23 (All-Conference MIFL), leaving sizable shoes to fill on the roster. Despite the absence of these key members, the Newark Academy football team enters this new chapter with a sense of optimism and determination.
Newark Academy will open their highly anticipated season on Friday, September 8 at 7 p.m. against Riverdale at home.
