The Newark Academy varsity girls' soccer team is eagerly preparing for the upcoming season, fueled by the desire to showcase their talent and succeed on the field. With a fresh set of captains and a strong roster of returning players, the team is poised for an exciting journey under the guidance of Head Coach Scott Rowling.

Looking back at the 2022 season, the Minutemen had exceptional leadership from Isabela McNeilly-Anta ‘23 (All-Super Essex Conference (SEC) American Division Second Team, All-State Prep B selection and captain), Zoe Hermans ‘23 (All-SEC American Division Second Team, All-Non Public Second Team selection and captain), and Ines Lopez-Slivero ‘23 (All-SEC American Division Honorable Mention, All-State Prep B First Team selection and captain).
Despite losing these key players to graduation, Larissa Basile ‘24, Mia Heinold ‘24, and Olivia Palker ‘24 are ready to step up as the team’s new captains.

The team is fortified by a group of talented and dedicated returning players. Cami Gallagher ‘25, recognized as an All-Super Essex Conference (SEC) American Division First Team and All-State Prep First Team selection in the previous season, brings a wealth of skill and experience to the team’s offense. Gracie Kelly ‘25, an All-SEC Honorable Mention player, will contribute her talent and grit to the Minutemen's defense.

Competing in the Super Essex Conference American Division, the Minutemen will face challenging opponents such as West Orange, Montclair, Livingston, Montclair Kimberley Academy, West Essex, Millburn and Verona.

The 2023 season opener will take place on September 5 when the Minutemen host Bloomfield at 4 pm.
