The Newark Academy boys’ cross country team won its fifth-consecutive Prep Championship this past weekend hosted by Blair Academy. Not only did the team have to battle against competitors, but unseasonably high temperatures as well. The Minutemen finished with a score of 64, just one point ahead of second-place finisher Princeton Day. Rutgers Prep followed in third place with a score of 82.

Newark Academy was led by Connor Polen ’26 who finished first overall with a time of 17:05. Ariel Gorbaty ’27 was also in the front of the pack finishing in fifth place (18:44). Other finishes for the Minutemen include Lachlan Wallace ’27 (20:29), Jayan Shah ’24 (21:14), Andrew Kapferer ’24 (21:53) and Ben Schwartz ’24 (23:13).

The Minutemen are looking forward to competing in the state tournament on November 4, in which they hope to continue their success.
