The Newark Academy girls’ tennis team finished their season with an impressive 14-3 record and the #3 ranking in the NJ.com Top 20. The ranking was fueled by wins over #2 MKA, handing the Cougars their only loss for the season, and local rivals #7 Millburn and #17 Livingston.

“I’m really proud of our team’s fight this year,” senior captain Molly Egan ‘24 said. “We battled a lot of top teams and really improved throughout the season.”

Newark Academy’s three losses all came to teams ranked in the top 7 in the state. The Minutemen had all seven starters qualify for state individuals with the doubles team of Siyona Bordia ’25 and Sarah Wang ’25 making it to the State Doubles Semifinals.

The team’s future is bright as Molly Egan is the only graduating senior in the starting lineup. A four-year starter and two-year captain, Molly finished her Newark Academy career with more than 50 team wins.
