The Newark Academy girls’ lacrosse team, led by fourth-year head coach Noelle Shirey and captains Cami Gallagher '25, Abby Herbert '24, and Izzy Becker '24, are looking to build success this upcoming season. Coming off a 5-14 season last year, the Minutemen plan to lean on key returners and newcomers alike to improve their record this season.

Despite the losses of seasoned veterans, All-Super Essex Conference (SEC) and All-New Jersey Interscholastic Girls’ Lacrosse League (NJIGLL) Independence South honorees Ines Lopez-Silvero '23 and Hilary Adelman '23, the team boasts multiple key returners. This includes All-SEC and All-NJIGLL selections Chloe Rosner '26 and Cami Gallagher '25 and All-SEC selections, Mina Ko '25, Lauren Markowitz '26, and Lilly Kanter '25.

In addition to the tough competition awaiting them in the Colonial division of the Super Essex Conference, the Minutemen will compete in the New Jersey Interscholastic Girls’ Lacrosse League (NJIGLL).

Last season, the team was awarded the 2024 All NJIGLL - Independence South Division Team Sportsmanship Award.

The Minutemen open their season on the road at River Dell on Tuesday, April 2 at 4:30 p.m.
