With a blend of seasoned veterans and fresh talent, coupled with a new head coach Brian Callahan, the Newark Academy baseball team is excited for the upcoming season.

Head coach Coach Brian Callahan, entering his first season with Newark Academy, brings with him a wealth of experience garnered over two decades. Prior to Newark Academy, Coach Callahan spent over 20 years at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he served as the head baseball coach for a decade. Coach Callahan assisted NJIT's baseball program through a transition from Division II to Division I. His accolades include being twice named conference Coach of the Year and leading his teams to conference sportsmanship awards and championships.

As the team bids farewell to key contributors from the previous season, including All-Super Essex Conference (SEC) honorees and captains Jonathan Eichler ‘23, Silas Epstein ‘23 and Alejandro Lorenzo ‘23 and All-SEC honoree Dylan Bulbulia ‘23, they welcome a new era of leadership under captains Jack DeVirgilio ‘24, Ben Schwartz ‘24, and Nate Choi ‘24. All-SEC and All-Prep honorees Jared Levine ‘25, Ryan Zhu ‘26, and Ben Schwartz ‘24 are also key returners for the Minutemen.

The Minutemen will compete in the SEC Colonial division with opponents such as Belleville, Cedar Grove, Payne Tech, East Side, East Orange, Shabazz and Newark Tech.

Newark Academy will open up on Monday, April 1st, with an away game at Newark Tech at 4 p.m.
